The Ocean City NJ drone show will debut this summer to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States, lighting up the beach and boardwalk just south of Sixth Street.

Titled “America 250: Lights Over Ocean City,” the show will feature hundreds of synchronized drones illuminating the night sky with animated tributes to the nation. Each performance will run approximately 15 minutes and take place after dusk on seven consecutive Monday evenings, from July 6 through August 17.

Where to Watch the Ocean City NJ Drone Show

Best viewing is along the boardwalk south of Sixth Street. Wide-open beach views give you the full effect. Get there early on busy summer nights.

The event is being made possible through a combination of public and private support, including a $25,000 grant from the Cape May County Board of Commissioners, sponsorships from Boardwalk merchants, and funding from the City of Ocean City. The commissioners are offering matching grants to municipalities hosting 250th anniversary celebrations across the county.

“We have been working with the city administration on this show for some time now,” said Boardwalk Merchants Association President Wes Kazmarck. “We’re grateful that we could pull it off, and we’re excited for the shows this summer. There won’t be a bad seat in the house.”

Mayor Jay Gillian added, “I want to thank Bobby Barr and all the commissioners, the Boardwalk Merchants, and the city team for all their support in making this happen. It will be a great way to celebrate this important milestone for America.”

With the ocean as a backdrop and the boardwalk as a front-row seat, the weekly shows are expected to become one of the highlights of the summer season in Ocean City.
