July is coming in hot! Ocean City Magazine’s 99th issue is out in the wild
The smell of Johnson’s Popcorn drifting down the Boardwalk.
Beach tags hanging from every wrist. Graduation ceremonies giving way to beach days. Those are a few things that tell me summer has officially arrived in Ocean City.
And that feeling when you realize there simply aren’t enough hours in the day to fit in everything you want to do.
That’s where we are right now. Welcome to July in Ocean City.
The island is packed, businesses are busy, and it seems like every week there’s something new to check out. Jilly’s has opened its new Popcorn Parlor. Kilwins is drawing crowds with its chocolate-lined waffle cones and ultra-premium ice cream. Monday nights now feature the America 250 drone show over the Boardwalk, which has quickly become one of the coolest additions to summer on the island.
And while all of that is happening, somehow Ocean City Magazine has reached Issue No. 99.
Ninety-nine.
I had to look at that number a few times myself.
When we started this magazine, I wasn’t thinking about Issue No. 99. I was just hoping people would read it. Nearly 17 years later, we’re already talking about Issue No. 100 next month, which is hard to wrap my head around.
We’ve also had some fun projects keeping us busy this summer. Our new Gone Native apparel line is now available at OC Treats and Stainton’s By The Sea, and the Welcome to Ocean City Guidebook continues to be one of my favorite things we produce each year. It’s been great seeing so many people carrying it around town and taking copies home with them.
As always, none of this happens without you.
Whether you’ve been reading Ocean City Magazine since the beginning or just picked up your first copy today, thank you for supporting local journalism, local businesses, and the people who make this island such a special place.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I have a Popcorn Bowl calling my name.
Enjoy the issue.
See you on the beach, Stef
