Ocean City Vacation Guide: The Shore as You’ve Never Seen It Before
Reading the 84-page Ocean City Vacation Guide is like opening a time capsule and seeing what life was like in America’s Greatest Family Resort 60 years ago.
A welcoming letter signed by Mayor B. Thomas Waldman, Commissioner D. Allen Stretch, and Commissioner Roy Gillian, was on page two of the guide. It was printed under the headline, “Welcome to the best things in life.”
The book was published by the members of the Ocean City Hotel, Motel and Restaurant Association. It was filled with places to stay and eat. A full-page ad reported on the newest hotel–The Port-O-Call, located at 1510 Boardwalk: “The Port-O-Call is a new concept in resort living, dedicated to the relaxation and total enjoyment of our guests. Located directly on the beach, we feature a color TV in every room – along with a refrigerator.
