June 2024 Ocean City Magazine

The last day of school is like a bundle of energy waiting to explode with the ring of that last screeching bell. With that long buzz ringing through the halls comes the promise of long days and nights, sleep ins, beach time, pool time, ocean time, and so much more. From walking Asbury ’til dark, to swinging on the playground swings while the sun heats your skin, Summer is everything. And so is our June 2024 issue.
I remember turning up Alice Cooper, rolling the windows down, and driving toward freedom (or 7th Street in Ocean City as it were) after school let out for the year. Learning was out, summer job on the Boardwalk was in, and a couple months of hot fun in the sun awaited. These days the lure of summer reels me in just the same. And summer in and around Ocean City is legendary. So ring that bell… here we gooooo!
First, congratulations to the class of 2024! It’s an amazing achievement to throw that cap into the air, sending up props for the four years of hard work it took to receive that diploma. Flip to page 52 to reflect along with seniors Alexis Allegretto, Jackson Barnes, Kristiana Bauer, Bridget Breeden and Erin Cantwell on their time at Ocean City High School.

Also on these pages, Brandon Smith brings us the second in his series on fishing in and around the island. Brandon is an avid fisherman, professional photographer (he runs Flood Tide Media), and police officer in town. Check out Go Fish on page 26.
Read the story behind area businesses Captain Obadiah’s Seafood Market, Back Bay Designs, and Ashore Fit. Shop local with the hot and cold must haves on page 34, see if you’re the ultimate OC expert with this month’s word search and Spot It quiz, and so much more.
See you on the beach! Stef Godfrey
