“The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear” – Buddy the Elf.

The Ocean City Theatre Company is busy keeping Ocean City in the holiday spirit! Last week, they performed a Holiday Spectacular variety show. This week, it’s the junior companies turn with Elf Jr.

Elf Jr. will be performed three times by the junior company consisting of 3rd-8th graders. Led by co-directors Hannah Catanoso (also choreographer), Elizabeth Worley, and music director Brinley Edwards, it opens at the Music Pier on December 17 at 7:30 pm. There are two shows on December 18- 2pm and 7:30pm.

“It’s based a lot on the movie. It’s about an elf named Buddy who grows up in the North Pole who finds out that he’s not an elf but he’s a human. Buddy, just in time for Christmas, travels to meet his father, and spreads Christmas cheer through New York City in the best way that he can,” said Hannah.

The performers got the experience of auditioning.

“We held auditions in early September. They sang songs, there was a dance call, they read lines. They did the whole deal for us,” said Hannah.

Tickets are on sale at City Hall and the Welcome Center, or available online at oceancity vacation.com/box-office.html
