Six Questions with Mary Grace Jamison, Miss Ocean City

Miss Ocean City
Miss Ocean City 2020 is a recent OCHS graduate

Mary Grace Jamison’s road hasn’t always been smooth. The recent Ocean City High School graduate was diagnosed with Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis when she was two and a half. Since then, she’s had two ankle surgeries, one involving a two-month stay at the Ronald McDonald House. The nerve damage, bone chips, and tendon damage (which caused the surgery) made her question her ability to dance. Last summer, though, she danced her way to the title of Miss Ocean City 2020.

Mary Grace is attending Stockton University in the fall, hopefully to become a nurse. She wants to help others the way nurses helped her. This sense of service was one of the things that led her to compete for Miss Ocean City. She wants to help empower others and help them see the light at the end of their tunnels.

  1. Tell me about yourself. How old are you, and where are you from?

I’m 18 years old and I am from Ocean City, New Jersey. I’m a bubbly person who feeds off of other people’s energy.

  1. What was it like to graduate during these COVID-19 times?

I was happy to see my friends and actually get to graduate. We processed from 10th to    6th street so our families could see us and cheer for us.
