Ashley on Asbury: Spring Strolls, Block Parties & a Sweet New Scoop on Asbury

HEY THERE PARTY PEOPLE!

It’s that time of the year again! Spring is here and the weather is finally starting to get nicer.

You know what that means! We’ve already had the crowd favorite DO-DAH parade come down Asbury. That one is always a good one. Who can resist the cute pups all dressed in their costumes and showing off their personalities down the avenue and boardwalk, am I right?

We are riding all the spring excitement left over from the May block party as well! That’s one event I always look forward to on Asbury. I love that we enjoy that twice a year, once in May and then again in October. I just love seeing all the small businesses fill the street with the goodies they’ve spent all year curating for us to shop and admire.

Not to mention the food vendors. I know this year we didn’t get the best of the weather, but that didn’t stop us!

So, now that we are cruising right along and moving closer to the official summer season, I wanted to let you in on another change between the Sixth and Seventh block of Asbury in addition to the killer new Pilates studio and two cute little shops.

The fabulous ice cream shop has arrived! This place is a gem that I first got familiar with when they first opened in Atlantic City. Now, I know, why in the world would you battle the traffic to go over there?

Well, you don’t have to. Island Creamery has opened on Asbury right next to Jon and Patty’s. It’s the best thing that could have happened to the avenue. This place will knock your socks off.

The owners Jackie and John are literally the nicest people you have ever met and the ice cream. OH my goodness! If you like homemade ice cream, I promise you that you will love this place. Naturally, you know I had to get over there to try some. I walked in and the vibe in the shop is fun and fresh with a hip personality. The store is open every day until eight o’clock, so you’ll have more than enough time to grab a scoop or a sundae. I admit that I was a little overwhelmed with the selection of ice cream. I mean that in the best way possible.

I finally went traditional on a nice single scoop sugar cone with birthday cake flavor and was not disappointed. It was sweet but not over the top. I believe I even had little pieces of cake mixed in for a wonderful textured ice cream. I highly recommend this when you go. They carry vegan options for those of you that may have a slightly more delicate stomach. So there is no reason not to get down here and check this place out. It’s a 10 out of 10 for sure.

Outside of all the new additions here on the north end of Asbury, all the other staples you’ve come to know and love are back for another fun-filled season. So, you cant say that you have nothing to do on a beautiful summer day downtown. You just have to get down here and check everything our. Now, it’s time for this writer to get out and about to find the next fun adventure for all of you!
