Ocean City Celebrates Easter With Philly Keys, Egg Hunt, Sunrise Service and Fashion Stroll
A full calendar of spring events continues on Easter Weekend in Ocean City with a free egg hunt on the Boardwalk, a sunrise service on the Ocean City Music Pier, and a piano concert and fashion stroll outside the Ocean City Music Pier.
The second of two Great Egg Hunts will take place on the boardwalk on Saturday, April 16. Participating merchants will invite children up to age 7 to visit stores with their families to collect eggs filled with treats and surprises. The event will run from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. or while supplies last. Flyers will direct families to participating stores. Rain date is April 17.
All are welcome to join a traditional non-denominational Easter Sunrise Service at 6:30 a.m. Sunday (April 17) at the Ocean City Music Pier. Local clergy members will lead the celebration, which will include Easter music. The service also will be streamed via Zoom for anybody who cannot attend the live event: ocnj.us/events/68773/.
Ocean City’s Easter Fashion Stroll takes place with judging at 1 p.m. Sunday (April 17) in front of the Ocean City Music Pier on the boardwalk at Moorlyn Terrace. The annual event pays tribute to an era when families showed off their finery during walks on the boardwalk.
Anybody is welcome to enter the free event, and no advance registration is required. Prizes will be awarded for Best Dressed Children, Teens, Adults and Families. The Philly Keys will return to Ocean City with their hit dueling piano show to start the festivities at noon Sunday. The show will continue after the Fashion Stroll.
LEGENDARY SWING BAND TO HELP OCEAN CITY POPS OPEN 2022 SEASON
The Ocean City Pops Orchestra will open its 2022 summer season with a special show featuring the legendary swing band Big Bad Voodoo Daddy at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, June 26 at the Ocean City Music Pier.
After 28 years, 11 records and more than 3,000 live shows, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy is still going strong in its efforts to promote and revitalize swing music. Taking inspiration from the creators of this uniquely American art form, the band’s original horn-infused music and legendary high-energy show introduces the genre to a new and younger generation, while remaining respectful of the music’s rich legacy.
The band will perform with the Ocean City Pops, which returns for a full season of concerts under the direction of Maestro Vince Lee.
Tickets for the show ($35-$45) will go on sale starting at 9 a.m. Thursday, April 14. Visit oceancityvacation.com/boxoffice, call 609-399-6111 or stop by City Hall or the Roy Gillian Welcome Center.
