Ocean City Regional Chamber of Commerce celebrates its centennial

Ocean City Regional Chamber of Commerce

This year, we’ve highlighted several businesses celebrating their anniversaries. Now, it’s time to celebrate the organization who helps support hundreds of businesses each year— the Ocean City Regional Chamber of Commerce is celebrating its 100th Anniversary.

“The Chamber is also a supporter of key community events and their partnership with the City has been in place since the inception. They continue to promote “America’s Greatest Family Resort” in many of the same traditional ways such as print advertising and trade shows. The strength of the Chamber’s reputation has been built on being a leader in our community,” said the Chamber in a press release.

The Chamber formed in February 1920 and was based out of the Massey and Edwards building, 8th and Wesley. They focus on marketing the Ocean City area as well as supporting and advocating for the small business community. The current offices are in the Roy Gillian Welcome Center on the 9th Street Bridge.

“The growth of the Chamber membership has been remarkable and is now more than 535 members strong,” according to the press release.

For Michele Gillian, executive director of Ocean City Regional Chamber of Commerce, it’s a remarkable milestone.

“For the Ocean City Regional Chamber of Commerce to be able to celebrate its 100th Anniversary, says so many things about our community, our business community, and our administrations. Ocean City, NJ is a wonderful place to vacation, own a business, and live. It’s truly ‘America’s Greatest Family Resort!,’” said Michele.

The Chamber will be celebrating its 100th anniversary with a celebration at the Ocean City Yacht Club on October 1.
