“Earlier than the Bird” has shoppers flocking Downtown
If you ever wished that you could shop in your pajamas, this Saturday is a good day to try it. On November 21, Earlier than the Bird takes place Downtown on Asbury Avenue from 8am – 12pm. If you wear your pajamas, you might win a prize for best dressed.
“Ocean City’s “Earlier than the Bird” event is your holiday wake- up call inviting one and all to come out and shop Downtown for pre-holiday savings at all of your favorite shops,” said the Ocean City Regional Chamber of Commerce in a press release. They are hosting the event.
“This year, more so than in years past, Earlier than the Bird is so important to our Downtown and all of its 100+ small businesses. I don’t think I need to elaborate on the effect that COVID has had on our Downtown, but instead highlight the opportunity that this year’s event offers. This year, so many stores are offering discounts and sales not only in-store, but also online. This is new this year, and it gives many OCNJ fans who are out of the area an option to support their favorite beach town’s small businesses. We hope that all of our amazing customers come out and support us, all while getting some fantastic deals!” said Caitlin Quirk, vice president of Downtown Merchants Association and owner of Bowfish Kids and DriftSpaces.
Downtown Deals
Bowfish Kids, 956 Asbury Avenue, is offering discounts depending on the amount customers spend. If you spend $50, you get 10% off, $100 gets you 15% off, $150 gives you 20% off, $200 gets you 25% off and spending $250+ gives you 30% in store and online.
If you are looking for coffee and donuts while shopping, Downtown has you covered. You can get a free cup of coffee at Jon and Patty’s, 6th and Asbury Avenue, and the Ocean City Coffee Company, 9th and Asbury Avenue. Drip N’ Scoop, 10th and Asbury, is offering a free standard donut.
“I’m happy that we are able to find a way for shoppers to find great gifts and deals right now. I hope the event will bring small businesses in Ocean City a lot of success to kick off the holiday shopping season,” said Jessica Englehart, vice president of L.E.H. Soap Company. LEH Soap is offering specials during the event.
Lucky Find, 1035 Asbury Avenue, is having an inventory reduction sale. Items will be anywhere from 20-50% off.
Making Waves, 836 Asbury Avenue, will be having a 50% off sale storewide through the end of 2020.
“Shop local this holiday season. Asbury Avenue is the perfect place to shop for anyone. Many delicious local restaurants, crafty stores and beautiful clothing shops,” said Britney Stein, owner Spoon & Sip. Spoon & Sip is offering 20% off gift cards.
Salty Seahorse, 714 Asbury Avenue Suite A, is offering 20% off their Christmas items as well as 30% off Maruca handbags and 25% off sterling rings.
Animal House, 705 Asbury Avenue, is normally closed on Saturdays. Instead, they are having Earlier than the Bird on Friday from 10am-12pm. The whole store is 10% off except for food and sale items. On Sunday, they will be having Later than Earlier than the Bird.
Anna•Rose Soapery, 1324 Asbury Avenue, is offering 15% off purchases of $20 or more from 8am-12pm.
