4th of July in Ocean City

Ocean City, New Jersey offers family friendly fun events for the 4th of July.

The celebration starts with a TWO Bike Parades! Have the kids decorate their bikes in red, white, and blue or grab a chair and enjoy the parades.

If you are on the north end of the island the Gardens Civic Association’s Bike Parade has registration at 9am at the Longport Bridge parking lot. Entry is free. Parade begins at 10am.

For those in the south end, the South Ocean City Improvement Association has held the Bike Parade since 1954 with 800 participants last year. Registration takes place in the parking lot of Our Lady of Good Counsel (40th Street and Asbury Avenue) at 9am. Registration is free to all, and prizes will be given to the top three in the following categories: 3-and-under, 4-to-7, 8-and-over, families and groups (over 25 or more). Parade participants include Miss Night in Venice contestants, Miss Ocean City, Little Miss Ocean City and Ocean City firefighters. The parade route starts at 40th Street and Central Avenue and proceeds down Central Avenue to 53rd Street. From there, the route turns down 53rd Street to finish at the playground at Haven Avenue, where free refreshments will be available, prizes given out and patriotic music played.

At 6pm the fun starts up on the boardwalk with a kite flying competition followed by entertainment. The sky is filled with amazing colors and shapes as the kites float in air throughout the night. Enjoy all the boardwalk and beach have to offer while you wait for the spectacular boardwalk fireworks display at 10pm. The fireworks are launched from a barge around 9th street and the boardwalk but can easily be viewed anywhere along the boardwalk.
